The RAe TEE II is a dual-voltage electric multiple unit that was built for the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and was used exclusively for international services. It was introduced in the 1960s and operated as an international and purely first-class train under the name “TEE (TransEuropExpress)” on routes such as the one between Zurich and Milan via the Gotthard route.
The train sets were later downgraded, rebuilt and repainted for “EuroCity” services, which continued until around 1999. After its retirement, the Rae TEE II was designated as a historic vehicle by the Swiss Federal Railways.
Around 2003, one train was partially restored – with some equipment features being modernized – and returned to its original TEE appearance. It is still in use today as a special train for events.
The Kato model is a replica of the SBB Historic version with the iconic red and cream TEE livery!
The model can be illuminated with the matching interior lighting (item no. K11-213 and K11-214). The table lamps are illuminated ex works. The Kato decoders are required for digitization (item no. 1x K29-351 and 2x K29-352)
