With 25 units built by ALCO, the Class 4000, also known as the Big Boy, was the largest steam locomotive in service with Union Pacific. There was also no comparatively large steam locomotive in the world. The machines were mainly used on the steep and winding routes of the Rocky Mountains.
Since 2019, the locomotive with the operating number 4014 has been actively under steam again, making it the largest operational steam locomotive today. Like the smaller Challenger 3985, it is operated by the Union Pacific Railroad.

The Kato model is a completely new construction and has two five-pole motors with flywheel mass, a light change and a fabulously detailed look.

Model features:
-new construction
-two five-pole motors with flywheel
-numerous applied details
-light change and illuminated number boards
-power supply via locomotive and tender
-operational museum version
-Minimum radius: 282 mm
