Description
The railcars of the 425 and 426 series (popularly known as “Quitschie”) from the Siemens Transportation Systems/Bombardier/DWA consortium are lightweight electric articulated trains for suburban and regional transport.
They are almost identical in construction to the 424 series, which is used on the Hanover S-Bahn network. It differs from the outwardly very similar pure S-Bahn 423 series in the entrance height, the reduced number of doors (2 instead of 3 per carriage side) and a built-in WC, among other things. The driving and braking technology, on the other hand, is almost identical to that of the 423, apart from a few differences, e.g. in the power electronics.
