NOHAB is the name for the European license version of the American standard locomotive of the F series from EMD, at that time a subsidiary of the GM Group. The diesel locomotive was purchased by many railroad administrations in Eastern and Western Europe in various axle arrangements and is still in use today. The round nose (“bulldog nose”) at the top of the locomotive with the narrow windows sloping downwards at the sides gave the locomotive its typical appearance. The model was named after the licensee Nydqvist och Holm AB / NOHAB in Trollhättan, Sweden.
