Description
BBÖ ordered 20 class 1029 locomotives for the fast passenger trains on the newly electrified lines at the beginning of the 1920s. The electric locomotives equipped with only one driver’s cab had a 1’C1′ axle arrangement. In 1938, the German Reichsbahn took over the locomotives and they were classified as E33, seven locomotives were stationed in Germany at the Basel Badischer Bahnhof depot and were mainly used on the Wiesentalbahn and Wehratalbahn.
From 1954, the locomotives were renumbered as Rh 1073 at the ÖBB and partially modernized. They ran on the suburban trains in Vienna until 1975.
