In Switzerland, the double-decker express train carriages of the SBB, which were procured from 1997 onwards, are referred to as IC2000. These passenger coaches, approved for 200 kilometers per hour, were originally purchased in five coach types (Bt, B, BR, A, AD), some of which may differ slightly from one another. In addition, various modifications have been made since delivery, so that later there were seven different types and today there are six. They differ from the other European double-decker coaches above all by the gangway located on the upper deck. After the extensive modernization of the carriages, which will take place between 2019 and 2024 and cost CHF 300 million, they will then be called IC2020.
