Between 1980 and 1981, Schweizerische Wagons- und Aufzügefabrik Schlieren (SWS) produced thirty large-capacity coaches of the UIC-Z1 type for the SBB. The coach was very similar to the Eurofima coaches, but differed significantly from them in some respects – for example, the second-class coaches had row seating in a 2+2 arrangement, as well as the large, wide windows previously found on the first-class coaches. The coaches, designated Bpm 20-70, were used by SBB primarily in international traffic and were painted in all SBB color schemes, from Eurofima orange to grey/stone grey to today’s black/white color scheme. From 1999, the coaches were converted for domestic use and were fitted with new Vis-à-Vis seating. In 2016, 25 of these wagons were sold to the Czech rail company Regiojet.
