Between 1918 and 1923, SBB procured over 1000 of the L6 open freight wagons.
They were initially used for the transportation of coal, but also for other weather-sensitive goods.
The L6s were built with wooden and steel walls and with and without a brakeman’s cab.
Based on the L6, SBB procured  wagons with raised sides for transporting logs and scrap.
318 of the cars classified as Fbkk were built.
