Description
In 1951, Otto Kässbohrer developed one of the first buses with a self-supporting, inherently stable and sufficiently torsion-resistant body.
With this design, it was possible to dispense with a base frame (chassis).
While other designers of buses with a self-supporting design had not yet achieved a breakthrough by this time, the design method
of the Setra S 8 laid the foundation for Kässbohrer’s later success with the Setra bus brand.
